G'day. |
11:00 |
|
#topic what we have been working on |
11:01 |
Pro-Panda |
I have been porting some activities to Python 3, and working on the Sugar Artwork Debian Packaging |
11:01 |
Quozl |
I've continued to work on the Record activity; most recently to show all recorded media in the tray, add a test without camera feature, and tune another race condition with GStreamer autovideosink startup. |
11:02 |
Pro-Panda |
couldn't test record due to lack of camera |

hi |

Quozl |
Pro-Panda: that reminds me; if you'd like to do any work for Debian project, I'm sure Jonas and his crew would be interested in giving you a hand. |

walterbender |
I did more work on the pie menus for Music Blocks |
11:03 |
|
and I finally found the repos for Amazonas and Mexico turtle and uploaded the repos to SL on github |
11:04 |
Pro-Panda |
Quozl: Sure, thanks |
11:04 |
Quozl |
Anyone else here apart from Walter and Rahul? |
11:05 |
|
Pro-Panda: you can now test Record from shell prompt with "RECORD_TEST=true sugar-activity". ;-) |
11:05 |
|
... and take photographs of a test pattern, chuckle. |
11:06 |
Pro-Panda |
Quozl: Hehe, sure |

#topic release planning, version numbering |
11:07 |
walterbender |
Quozl, should we grab the core recording code inside the Record activity and use it for the camera plugin in Turtle? |
11:07 |
|
presumably it is more robust |
11:08 |
Quozl |
my plan for the moment is to release 0.114 on or around 6th october, with a 0.113 about a month before. it may be our first python 3 release. there are not many other significant changes to sugar other than api changes. |
11:09 |
walterbender |
does that mesh with Fedora and/or Debian/Ubuntu releases? |
11:09 |
Quozl |
walterbender: have a look, see if it works, i guess. i did try out the ported gstreamer code but it wasn't very reliable, which is why i went mostly for reimplementing it. but it does set aside xo-1, xo-1.5, xo-1.75 and xo-4 compatibility. |
11:10 |
|
walterbender: no, not at all; as we don't have any developers from those release teams doing anything much lately on sugar, i don't think we need to worry about meshing with their schedules. |

in an article on lwn.net today, the thoughts on python 2 deprecation by distributions suggest we have another year at least. |
