22:05 Quozl i'm not working on anything in particular, most of my time has been pull request reviews, gsoc idea planning, governance, and watching linux.conf.au talks.

22:06 Quozl just now, i investigated why the meeting robot is four or five seconds ahead of global time.  cause is machine jita.sugarlabs.org which does not run ntp.  jita is running unsupported obsolete ubuntu 12.04.

22:10 Quozl i don't know, i didn't do it.  i've focused on applying updates since.  i did upgrade laptop.org servers though, so i can do it in a pinch.

22:12 ibiam And tbh, I don't think we should have "extend the exerciser activity" of sugarizer as an idea

22:13 And I think we said something about not having the creation of an activity as part of a gsoc project

22:14 Quozl i've reviewed the extend the exerciser activity and i'm fine with it.  the need is there, it is well defined, it looks like more than 12 weeks work.

22:15 Quozl no, sugarizer can also run standalone; both as an app on the various platforms, and also using sugarizer server in isolated non-connected schools.

22:17 ibiam It seems the idea of Scratch and fixing sugar-web was turned down

22:18 Quozl fixing sugar-web can be inside the "improve and maintain 25 sugar activities" project easily; all that is needed is an activity that relies on it that has a later version on sugarizer.
22:19 also, sugar-web has a later version on sugarizer too, so fixing sugar-web also involves merging with sugarizer's version.
22:20 ibiam And Scratch uses sugar-web
22:21 Quozl as far as i can see, nobody was willing to start the work on scratch to prove walter and i wrong on our assessment that it sounded like a very small amount of work; remember that gsoc tasks have to fill 12 weeks.
22:21 ibiam It's a small amount of work, I feel the same too
22:21 Quozl that we had students last year who did their gsoc tasks at a rate of less than half an hour a day is unfortunate, and we are obliged to prevent that.
22:21 ibiam But the merge with fixing sugar-web increases the time frame for both
22:22 Quozl okay, but iqra didn't know how to estimate that, and after asking me a few questions she closed the pull request.
22:22 root cause probably iqra too busy with other things.
22:23 so while it's a pity the idea didn't get off the ground, it's because people are too busy with other things.  if it's an idea that you think is important, you'll spend some technical time prototyping and estimating.
