hi Quozl |
22:09 |
Quozl |
i've been working on making sugar and the important activities work on ubuntu 18.04 which is due to be released in a few months. new beta installer image tested, and documentation updated. i've a list of things to fix, but i haven't raised them all as issues. |
22:09 |
|
pikurasa: hello. |

Per usual, I have been working much on Music Blocks--testing and design. Notable is that a prospective for GSoC has been creating mockups for this issue https://github.com/walterbende[…]blocks/issues/485 and eohomegrownapps has done much work on the updated planet server, which should be running any day now. |
22:11 |
|
Another prospective student also started testing our widgets, which need much more testing overall. |
22:12 |
|
I show Music Blocks to a college class next week at the New England Conservatory. The class is a seminar class for "Music in Education". Should be a great opportunity to share what we are doing. |

Looks good. I'd like to see a port of Music Blocks to Sugar as a sugar-web based JavaScript activity, but I'm not sure what the difficulty might be. We have an embedded-in-browse-activity port at the moment. |

Quozl: That sounds good to me. I also do not know how difficult it would be. |
22:14 |
|
I imagine it may not run well on OLPC, however, as it seems to use a lot of CPU power. |
22:14 |
|
at least that has been my experience, although we are working on it. |
22:15 |
Quozl |
pikurasa: don't worry about the older OLPC models; I don't. |
22:15 |
pikurasa |
sure, but it should be noted |
22:15 |
Quozl |
pikurasa: but it would be the case even without OLPC existing. people use old hardware. |
22:16 |
pikurasa |
I use old hardware |
22:16 |
|
that is why I know of the issue :) |
22:16 |
Quozl |
pikurasa: is there a built-in test for measuring platform performance using music blocks? |
22:16 |
pikurasa |
and perhaps my computer is good to test on for that reason |
22:17 |
Quozl |
pikurasa: something like a MB-MIPS ;-) |
22:17 |
pikurasa |
Quozl: there is an issue on GH to implement something like that |
22:17 |
Quozl |
cool. |
22:17 |
pikurasa |
I do not know what MB-MIPS is |
22:17 |
Quozl |
it was just invented a few seconds ago. |
22:17 |
pikurasa |
??? |
22:17 |
Quozl |
google, xkcd, standards. |
22:18 |
|
https://xkcd.com/927/ |
22:18 |
|
so a metric or standard for music blocks performance on a platform. and i called it the music blocks millions of instructions per second. |
22:19 |
|
i've nothing further; motion to close meeting. |
22:20 |
pikurasa |
This is the particular issue: https://github.com/walterbende[…]locks/issues/1032 |
22:20 |
|
I am done as well +1 for closing |
22:20 |
|
Thanks again! |
